ALWAYS THERE relies on the familiar shape and connotations of a traditional wreath to remind the viewer of the feelings they might experience about someone they miss and grieve for. The meaning of the text suggests that these feelings and memories remain with us through our lives, no matter how long it has been since our loss. These feelings can become camouflaged, as we learn to live with them and understand them. The ‘ivy’ also acts as a partial camouflage, it appears solemn in comparison to flowers, is reminiscent of overgrown cemeteries and the passing of time.
