This is a hand sewn work that was inspired by lightbox signage that used to be in a window of a business in Kellett Street Kings Cross, circa 1980s. I found it appealing because of the colour combination of red and yellow and the graduation of the red tones to a pink which gave the signage movement, elegance and subtlety. The meaning of the sign was pretty obvious but as a fan of sans serif typefaces, especially Helvetica, I think it was really smart, effective design, direct communication and aesthetically pleasing at the same time.
